Our latest wind data recorded at the site expects Pen y Cymoedd to produce enough power annually to meet the electricity demand of more than 188,000 UK households* and will more than meet the domestic demand of host local authorities Rhondda Cynon Taf and Neath Port Talbot. Over the lifetime of the project, it is expected to save 6.4million tonnes of CO2.
The design of the wind farm (use of slightly different rotor sizes across the site) means that the performance of the site has been improved significantly, and there is more wind than first expected. The wind data we collected during the pre-planning and planning phase suggested that the wind farm would produce enough electricity to power 140,000 homes per annum. We were delighted to find out about this new figure.
