#BackClimateAction – the community in a global discussion

Ideas review

Yesterday we took part in a global tweetathon #Backclimateaction, which was hosted by the Department for Energy and Climate Change. Climate change is a hot topic at the moment, with major international talks taking place next year. The tweethathon looked at some of the challenges, gathering and sharing ideas of what needs to be tackled and how.

We spent the day sharing some of the community’s ideas for the future which were gathered through the community fund work – from tackling heating in homes to using sport to engage people with their environment. We got a lot of interest  – with people from as far away as Boston in America interested in the community’s ideas. Secretary of State Ed Davey himself also took the time to comment on one idea.

You can see the full debate across the world on twitter at #Backclimateaction.

How the fund will work

How the fund will work

Today, we finished the final stage of sorting the community’s ideas, and it’s really exciting to see the incredible vision the community has put forward for the fund. It’s diverse, forward thinking, and is very much about building on the area’s strengths, which means it’s also very achievable.

There’s work still to do, but the next step is preparing to share this vision with the community. We want as many people as possible to see it, be inspired by it, and want to get involved with it. Then the next task ahead with be preparing plans of how the vision could become reality….which it really could!
