Mair Gwynant is a chartered accountant with many years’ experience of working across the public, private and third sector. Her areas of expertise include financial management, governance, funding, grant management, business development and strategic planning.
Mair previously worked in senior roles within the Welsh Government, the Welsh European Funding Office, the Wales Co-operative Centre, Chwarae Teg and Deloitte Touche LLP.
She has direct experience of operating funding schemes and grant assessment processes. Her role in WEFO included carrying out financial appraisals and due diligence work on applicants for Structural Funds. She was also the head of State Aid Unit within the Welsh Government advising on the practical application of European regulations for both funders and individual grant applicants.
Mair currently runs her own specialist business consultancy business, Almair Cyf, providing customised support and solutions to SMEs, social enterprises and charitable organisations, to support their growth and development. She has worked with many organisations in the Pen y Cymoedd area, developing sustainable community projects and social enterprise activity.
Mair is a Director, Trustee and Treasurer for the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (since 2012), providing her with a direct involvement and a further understanding of the voluntary and charitable sector in Wales and the issues faced at local level.
Mair welcomes the opportunity to contribute to and shape the positive change that the fund can make to the area and will apply her financial and governance skills and knowledge to ensure the funds are spent appropriately, ensuring added value and long term sustainability.
