The Pen y Cymoedd Apprentices go offshore

Three years ago we interviewed hundreds of local young people. Four apprentices were taken on to train to become wind turbine technicians. After two years of study at Neath and Llandrillo Colleges, the apprentices have now started on their practical training. Vattenfall, in conjunction with local company Isofab, has followed the four apprentices’ progress closely as they’ve developed and taken on new challenges – with one even having to learn to swim to complete his offshore rescue training!

Trainee starts civil engineering career at PyC

A Neath Port Talbot teenager has been selected for a rare opportunity to learn the ropes at Pen y Cymoedd.

Tom Burbidge will take his first steps in the world of civil engineering under the  tutorship of joint venture partners Jones Bros UK and Balfour Beatty, which are delivering infrastructure at Vattenfall’s Pen y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project.
