Eryl Roberts, project manager for the Jones Bros and Balfour Beatty joint venture, gives us the final site update of 2014.

“Work is drawing to a close on site after a very wet but productive end to the year.

“We’ve completed more than half of the turbine bases for the project, having finished our fortieth this week. Work excavating any new bases will now be on hold until February, hopefully avoiding any bad weather at the start of the New Year.

Our civils contractor Jones Bros / Balfour Beatty have completed 24 of the wind farm’s 76 turbine bases since starting work on the project in February.

Eryl Roberts, Project Manager for the Jones Bros and Balfour Beatty joint venture (JBBB), said: “We’ve made good progress over the last few months, and it’s great to see the number of completed bases increase.

An invitation to experience our construction works first hand

Two separate concrete pours are required to construct the base. More than 50,000m³ will be used across the turbine bases, with an average of 600m³ per base.
