2015: Mission possible!

Despite 2015 presenting major challenges for the team working on the largest onshore wind farm in England and Wales, the Pen y Cymoedd project is on track to export its first power to the grid at the end of next year.

WATCHING thousands of gallons of concrete flowing into the last of the 76 turbine foundations at Pen y Cymoedd this week was a welcome early Christmas present for the whole team involved in the huge project.

Fantastic progress continues at England and Wales’ largest onshore wind farm

Vattenfall, the European energy company, and their contractors building Wales’ largest onshore wind farm, are looking forward to a relaxing Christmas as the last of the scheme’s 76 wind turbine foundations are completed this week.

Concrete pouring onsite at PyC

Now that that concrete pouring has resumed onsite following the wet and cold weather, we thought we would give you an insight into how our construction team ensure the turbine foundations will be fit for purpose. Our site team take quality control extremely seriously. There are two concrete pours in each turbine foundation that can only happen once the correct preparations have taken place.
