Vattenfall were delighted to sponsor the Nos Galan races on New Years Eve.
The run was organised by the Nos Galan Committee chaired by Cllr Ann Crimmings, R.C.T Council’s events, PR Team and Streetcare team, and not forgetting local volunteers.
Our Pen y Cymoedd Community Engagement Officer Rhys Lewis who attended the event said:
“As a representative of one of the main 2014 Nos Galan sponsors, it was a great to attend such a prestigious sporting event in the heart of Cynon Valley on New Years Eve.
With over 1500 registered runners and 10,000 spectators of the 5km run, it is clear that the Nos Glan Races are firmly cemented as a integral sporting event within Rhondda Cynon Taf, with many local and international competitors taking part.
It was a pleasure to witness the coming together of people from all sections of the community to enjoy the annual sporting event, providing a valuable opportunity to promote the health and wellbeing benefits of sporting activities. Over the last two years the Pen y Cymoedd team have been out and about meeting people within the community of the upper Cynon, Neath, Afan and Rhondda Valleys in preparation for the late 2016 / early 2017 launch of the Pen y Cymoedd Community Fund.
By sponsoring community events such as the Nos Galan Races, Vattenfall is able to demonstrate its long term commitment to promoting South Wales as a vibrant hub for fun filled community events and activities.”
