We expect the smaller of the cranes to arrive onsite later today. These cranes will be responsible for lifting the first two tower sections of each turbine into place. We expect this to commence early next week, weather permitting!
Above is an example from Swinford Wind Farm of what you can expect to see. The turbine ‘stump’ towards the back of the photo shows two tower sections in place. The crane at the forefront is lifting the first tower section of another turbine into place. Two tower sections for each turbine will be lifted into place before the arrival of the larger cranes, expected in April. The larger cranes will lift the remaining components into place. The height of the first two tower sections will total 37.2metres.
